There is a tendency for people that have little to no grasp of a topic to be more permeable to believing what is said in relation to said topic. I think the cognitive process at play is that the information received comes from someone that almost certainly knows more since the listener either knows nothing or very little – quantity over quality as the listener is unable to make a qualitative judgement at an early stage.
With time and the nurturing of critical thinking, one is able to filter out quality over noise, nonsense or even just lower quality inputs. And speaking of inputs, thank you for the article.
